What's normal, what to do, and when to seek care
What's normal after a subcutaneous injection?
Mild, short-lived reactions are common and usually settle within a few hours to a couple of days. Typical and generally harmless signs include:
- A small pink or red area around the site
- Slight itching, a raised bump (wheal), or mild swelling
- Minor bruising, especially if a small vessel was nicked
- Brief tenderness or a warm feeling right after injecting
How do I reduce reactions in the first place?
- Rotate sites. Don't inject the same spot repeatedly. Give tissue time to recover between uses.
- Let it reach room temperature. Cold solution straight from the fridge stings more, so let the drawn dose sit a minute or two.
- Clean and dry. Swab with alcohol and let it fully dry before injecting, because wet alcohol is what burns.
- Use a fresh, fine needle each time, and inject slowly and steadily.
- Avoid irritated skin. Skip bruises, broken skin, moles, or areas of previous reaction.
I have redness and itching. What should I do?
For a mild, localised reaction: apply a cool compress for a few minutes, avoid scratching, and simply rotate to a fresh site for your next dose. Most reactions fade on their own. An over-the-counter oral antihistamine may help itching if your healthcare provider says it's appropriate for you.
Could a reaction mean I'm reacting to the peptide itself?
Occasionally, repeated or worsening reactions in the same person can reflect sensitivity to the compound, the preservative in the water, or simply technique. If reactions are escalating dose over dose, pause and review your handling and product with your provider before continuing.

What does “reconstitution” actually mean?
Most peptides ship as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder for stability. Reconstitution is simply adding a sterile diluent, typically bacteriostatic water, to dissolve that powder into a usable solution.
How do I reconstitute correctly?
- Wipe both vial stoppers with alcohol and let them dry.
- Draw your diluent, then aim the stream against the inside glass wall of the peptide vial. Never blast it directly onto the powder.
- Swirl gently; do not shake. Agitation and foaming can damage delicate peptides.
- Let it stand until fully clear. A cloudy, discoloured, or particulate solution should not be used.
How much water should I add?
The volume of diluent sets the concentration, which in turn determines how much solution equals your intended dose. More water means a larger, easier-to-measure draw per unit; less water means a smaller draw. Follow the specific reconstitution guidance for your product and protocol, and keep the ratio consistent so your measured doses stay accurate.
How should I store peptides, before and after mixing?
Before reconstitution (lyophilised powder): keep sealed vials cool, dark, and dry. Refrigeration is ideal for long-term storage, and many powders tolerate short periods at room temperature during shipping. Keep them out of direct light and heat.
After reconstitution (liquid): store in the refrigerator (roughly 2 to 8 °C), upright, away from light. Do not freeze a reconstituted solution, because freezing can denature the peptide. Use within the window indicated for your product, and discard if the solution turns cloudy, changes colour, or shows particles.
What about travel and handling?
For short trips, an insulated bag with a cool pack (not in direct contact with the vial, to avoid freezing) keeps solution stable. Avoid leaving vials in hot cars or direct sun. Always keep needles capped and sealed, and store everything out of reach of children and pets.

How should I think about dosing?
Good protocols are built on principles, not guesswork. What are the core principles of a good protocol?
- Start low, adjust slowly. Beginning conservatively and titrating lets you gauge tolerance and response before moving up.
- Be consistent. Regular timing, the same time of day and the same routine, produces cleaner, more readable results than an erratic schedule.
- Respect cycles and breaks. Many protocols run for a defined period followed by a rest. Continuous, indefinite use is rarely the goal.
- Rotate injection sites throughout a protocol to protect tissue and keep absorption even.
- Change one variable at a time. If you adjust dose, timing, or add a compound, do it in isolation so you know what caused any change.
How do I know if a protocol is working?
Track it. Keep a simple log of dose, timing, site, and how you feel, including sleep, recovery, energy, and any reactions. Patterns over weeks, not single days, tell the real story, and a written record is what lets you and your provider make informed adjustments.
Can I stack or combine peptides?
Combining compounds increases complexity and the chance of interactions or overlapping effects. It should only be considered with proper guidance, introduced one at a time, and never as a shortcut. When in doubt, simpler and slower is safer.
When should I involve a healthcare professional?
Before starting, if you have any existing condition, take medication, or are unsure, and any time something feels off.
